Pool Safety Inspections in South East Queensland

What we inspect

Every inspection assesses your pool barrier against the Queensland Pool Safety Standard. We check the height and structural strength of the fence, gate operation including self-closing and self-latching hardware, the 900mm and 1200mm non-climbable zones on both the inside and approach sides of the barrier, compliance of any windows and doors that form part of the barrier, and the presence and legibility of CPR signage.

What happens after the inspection

If your barrier is compliant, we issue a Satisfactory Inspection Report and lodge your Form 23 Pool Safety Certificate on the QBCC pool register. If it is not, you receive a Non-conformity Notice setting out exactly what needs to change. You then have 90 days to complete the rectification work and book a re-inspection.

Who legally needs an inspection

Any Queensland property with a pool capable of holding more than 300mm of water requires a compliant barrier. You will specifically need a current Pool Safety Certificate when selling or leasing the property, and shared pools in unit complexes, hotels and short-stay accommodation require renewal every 12 months rather than every 2 years.

How to prepare

Make sure the pool area is accessible, all gates are unlocked, and any pets are secured. If you have previous pool safety documentation, certificates or build approvals, having those on hand helps — particularly for older barriers where the original approval date affects which standard applies.
